BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office mourned the death of Police Master Sgt. Romulo Galvez Jr. in a buy-bust operation Thursday.
Galvez was remembered as a snappy warrant officer and operative.
Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia, Bacolod police director, said Galvez gave his life in the performance of duty in bringing a criminal into justice.
"In the name of service and commitment to duty, he offered his life for the safety of the people," Rebadomia said.
The BCPO lowered the Philippine flag at half-mast on Friday afternoon to mourn Galvez.
"He is a true warrior, who, at the middle of the night while others were asleep, he was out in streets fighting a criminal who is a notorious drug dealer, Akyat Bahay suspect, and holdup suspect always armed and victimizing innocent people," the BCPO stated.
Galvez was previously assigned in Sulu before settling at the BCPO as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
The BCPO has extended their sympathies to the family of Galvez.
