VP Sara has no Senate slate yet

Vice President Sara Duterte said she has no Senate slate yet but revealed that some have already expressed interest in joining her in the 2028 elections.
"Wala pa akong senators. Merong mga nagpahayag na interesado sila na magsama kami kung sakaling ako ay tumakbo, at sila din ay tatakbo (I don’t have any senators yet. There are some who have expressed interest in joining me if I decide to run, and they are also planning to run)," Duterte said in an interview in Davao City on Thursday, April 9.
"Pero kung sasabihin mo na meron na talagang listahan at meron na talagang listahan, walang ganoon para sa Senators list sa eleksyon sa 2028 (But if you’re asking whether there is already an actual list, there isn’t one yet for the senatorial slate for the 2028 elections),"she added.
Duterte also refused to name those who expressed interest in joining her 2028 slate due to "intense politics" at present.
She also claimed that her friends and people reaching out to her and end up being threatened or harassed.
"Hindi ko sila papangalan kasi unang una, matindi at mainit ang pulitika ngayon. Lahat ng lumalapit, nakaditkit, kaibigan ko ay hina-harass, tine-threaten, pina-file-an ng kaso, inaatake (I won’t name them because, first of all, politics is intense and heated right now. Everyone who approaches, gets close, or is my friend is being harassed, threatened, facing cases, or attacked)," the Vice President said.
Duterte added that they are still considered as presumptive candidates. Thus, she doesn't want to name them yet.
"Pangalawa, dahil kaming lahat ay presumptive candidates pa lang dahil wala pa namang filing ng candidacy. So, hindi natin alam kung matutuloy ba talaga yang pagtakbo nila o hindi. Hintayin natin sa darating na, at malapit na yun, period of filing ng candidacy sa susunod na taon (Secondly, we’re all still presumptive candidates since the filing of candidacy hasn’t started yet. So we don’t know if they will actually push through with their plans to run or not. Let’s wait for the upcoming filing period next year)," she said.
Duterte also said that she does not have a runningmate yet.
Asked when is the right time to announce a runningmate, she said when the candidate is ready.
"Kung meron na, dahil sa ngayon wala pa naman ako na vice president na candidate na kasama, kung meron na at ready na siya na magpahayag na siya ay tatakbo bilang vice president (When there is one. As of now, I don’t have a vice presidential candidate with me. When there is one and they are ready, they can announce that they will run as vice president)," Duterte said.
The Vice President announced her 2028 presidential bid in February this year.
