Around P3.4 million worth of shabu was seized during a joint operation of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) that led to the arrest of a suspected drug pusher in Taguig City.
A report reaching Camp Crame stated that around 500 grams of shabu was confiscated from a 40-year old tricycle driver during the operation along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Maharlika.
Taguig City police chief Col. Julius C. Añonuevo said the operation stemmed from the confirmed intelligence report about the alleged involvement of the suspect in selling illegal drugs.
The local police, backed by PDEA agents, then mapped out a buy-bust which resulted in the arrest of the suspect, according to Añonuevo, adding that marked money and other personal belongings were also seized.
“This successful operation reflects sustained coordination among law enforcement units. It shows how closely we’re working with PDEA to go after illegal drugs and under the leadership of Mayor Lani Cayetano, we will make sure those involved are caught and made accountable,” said Añonuevo,
He said the arrested suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
