Vice President Sara Duterte had only a few words when asked to comment on rumors about her former ally, President Marcos’ health.
"Good luck sa kanya (Good luck to him)," Duterte said after a brief pause when sought for comment on the President's health during an interview in Davao City on Thursday, April 9.
The Vice President made no further comments.
Marcos, who was Duterte's running mate in the 2022 elections, ended speculation about his health on Wednesday, April 8—a few days after rumors that he was unwell started circulating on social media.
In an interview, Marcos personally dismissed the rumors, saying there is no issue and that he has returned to his regular routine months after his diverticulitis diagnosis.
However, the speculations continued, with people on social media claiming that the photos and videos of Marcos posted on Malacañang’s official pages were old.
The President and the Vice President were running mates in the 2022 elections under the political alliance dubbed "UniTeam."
Their alliance began to fall apart when the Vice President resigned from her position as secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) in June 2024. She later revealed that her reason for stepping down from the Marcos Cabinet was a mix of personal and professional issues.
Since then, the country's top two officials have not met in any engagement, official or otherwise.
