President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. meets Mexican businessman and philanthropist Victor González Herrera at the Malacañan Palace on April 8, 2026.
Putting an end to speculation about his health, mainly on social media, President Marcos personally dismissed the rumors, saying there is no issue and that he has returned to his regular routine months after his diverticulitis diagnosis.
In an interview with Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro on Wednesday afternoon, April 8, Marcos brushed off speculation about his health that had been circulating on social media in recent days.
He even thanked those worrying about him.
"Magpapasalamat naman ako sa mga nag-aalala sa akin at huwag n'yo pong masyadong sineseryoso, alam mo naman ang social media palabiro 'yan, e (I would like to thank those who are concerned about me, and please don’t take it too seriously—you know how social media is, it can be playful)," Marcos said.
"At wala po tayong problema (And there is no problem). I am back to my regular exercise. I've been back to my regular routine," Marcos added.
The President said that for the past three months, he has been monitoring his health and ensuring he is always ready to do his work.
He also shared that there are no more restrictions on his diet.
"Actually, wala naman talagang bawal, marami lang suggestion na iwasan ko itong ganito, iwasan mo yung masyadong mantikain. Pero wala na yun. Hindi ko na masyadong iniisip ngayon yun (Actually, there were never really strict prohibitions—just a lot of suggestions to avoid certain things, like very oily food. But that’s over now. I don’t think about it much anymore)," he said.
The Chief Executive also said he has been mindful of his diet to avoid gaining weight.
On Wednesday, the President held meetings, including one with Mexican businessman and philanthropist Victor González Herrera who donated devotional images of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the 2026 Philippine pilgrimage.
Set to arrive in Manila on June 13, the Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe will begin a nationwide journey to more than 52 cathedrals and major shrines across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including a visit during the 132nd CBCP Plenary in Ozamiz City before its permanent installation at the Manila Cathedral.
Part of the Novena Intercontinental Guadalupana (2025–2031), the pilgrimage is organized by the Guadalupe Pilgrimage Committee in coordination with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in preparation for the 500th anniversary of the Marian apparitions in 2031.
