UP, Ateneo enter Top 100 in 2026 QS World Rankings by subject
Two Philippine universities entered the global Top 100 in the 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject, according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
The University of the Philippines (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) both placed in the 51–100 band in their respective fields.
CHED said this marks an improvement from last year, when no Philippine institution reached the Top 100 tier.
Six Philippine Higher Education Institutions were included in the rankings, covering 47 academic program entries. Of these, 14 improved in rank while 19 remained stable.
UP led all Philippine universities with 22 total entries, including Library and Information Management, which ranked 51–100.
AdMU had seven entries, with Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies also placing in the 51–100 band.
De La Salle University recorded seven entries, with Philosophy ranked 151–200, while the University of Santo Tomas had one entry in Medicine, ranked +701.
In Hospitality and Leisure Management, UP, Adamson University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University were included in the rankings.
Adamson placed in the 101–150 band, while Lyceum ranked 151–175.
CHED said Adamson and Lyceum entered the rankings for the first time this year through this discipline.
It also said UP remained the country’s strongest performer, with gains across Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Management, and Life Sciences and Medicine.
The Quacquarelli Symonds rankings cover more than 21,000 academic offerings worldwide across 55 disciplines and five broad faculty areas, using indicators such as academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact, and international collaboration.
CHED said the results reflect continued improvement in the global standing of Philippine higher education institutions as they strengthen teaching, research, and international linkages.
