BACOLOD CITY – A 42-year-old Indian woman was shot and wounded by her brother-in-law over personal grudges and business dispute in Hacienda Buyong-Buyong Road, Barangay Bagtic, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, April 8.
Police Lt. Col. Edison Garcia, Silay police chief, said the victim from Barangay Taculing here was riding a motorcycle with her 45-year-old driver when they were shot.
The woman was wounded in the stomach and managed to get assistance from a passing multicab.
However, the suspect chased them and continued shooting. Three passengers of the multi-cab were wounded – two farmers, aged 52 and 50, and a 76-year-old man.
The woman's driver was injured after losing control of the motorcycle during the attack.
All victims are recuperating in a hospital. Police are pursuing the suspect, who attempted to harm the victim last year, but no charges were filed after they reached a settlement.
Meanwhile, a barangay councilor and a sound system operator were electrocuted during a power outage on Tuesday, April 7 in Barangay Carol-an, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Mayor Benjie Miranda has sought assistance for the victims – 45-year-old kagawad Jemar and 39-year-old Baltazar.
Both victims are currently recovering in a hospital.
An eight-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City on Tuesday. She was declared dead in a hospital.
