Fuel relief aid sustains transport sector in Malolos City
With petroleum prices continuing to rise weekly across the country, the Malolos City Government has sustained its cash relief assistance program for drivers and operators in the transport sector.
Mayor Christian D. Natividad emphasized on Tuesday, April 7, that the initiative, which began on April 1, remains ongoing to help ease the burden of fuel costs.
On the first day of distribution, members of the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) were the first beneficiaries, followed by other transport groups in the city.
Each driver received ₱3,000 in cash assistance funded by the city government.
Mayor Natividad explained that the subsidy is intended to support drivers and fishermen in coping with the surge in petroleum prices, largely attributed to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In addition to local aid, beneficiaries are expected to receive ₱5,000 from the national government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
So far, 1,776 individuals, who are members of transport associations, have benefited from the program.
This initiative underscores Malolos City’s commitment to supporting its transport workers and sustaining livelihoods amid the ongoing oil crisis.
