E-bike driver faces homicide rap in Caloocan woman's slay

Police have rejected the holdup defense of an electric bike driver accused in the fatal stabbing of a 33-year-old woman in Caloocan City on April 2, saying evidence points to a deliberate killing rather than a robbery.
The National Police District (NPD) said the victim’s belongings were found intact at the crime scene, contradicting the suspect’s claim that he was attacked during a supposed robbery attempt.
Investigation showed the victim boarded the suspect’s e-bike in the Monumento area before she was brought to Barangay 25 near a railway line.
She was later found with at least five stab wounds to the neck.
Police Capt. Zoilo Lopez of Caloocan Substation 1 said the area had no direct closed-circuit television (CCTV) coverage.
This prompted investigators to conduct backtracking and forward tracking of nearby footage to trace the suspect’s movements.
Authorities identified the suspect, alias “Rodman,” through information from bystanders, including a witness who showed a group chat message claiming he had been injured in an alleged holdup.
However, police said the presence of the victim’s cellphone and cash at the scene, along with the nature of her injuries, strengthened the conclusion that the case was a homicide and not robbery-related.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face homicide charges as authorities continue to determine the motive behind the killing.
