ILOILO CITY – Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon S. Garin lauded programs of Razon-owned MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power).
Garin noted that MORE Power was able to implement the expanded Lifeline Rate Subsidy Program (LRSP) designed by DOE and Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for low-income households long before the March 2026 national rollout.
MORE Power opened applications for low-income households, including beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in July 2023.
There are 6,310 LRSP beneficiaries in Iloilo City as of this month, 4,360 of who are 4Ps while the rest are marginalized residents.
The DOE and ERC also cited MORE Power’s bill deposit refund program as mandated by Magna Carta for Residential Electricity Consumers.
Since taking over in 2020, MORE Power has refunded around P9.2 million to 1,421 good-paying consumers for three consecutive years.
The DOE noted that power demand here increased by 14 percent which was above the national average.
