AirAsia reminds passengers of baggage policy amid post-Holy Week travel surge
Low-cost carrier AirAsia Philippines issued a reminder to its passengers to review and comply with the airline’s baggage policy to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey, as it expects a surge in the number of Filipinos flying to various destinations after the Holy Week break.
“Travelers returning from both domestic and international destinations are encouraged to take note of cabin and checked baggage limits to avoid inconvenience at the airport,” AirAsia said.
It noted that each guest can bring up to seven kilograms (kg) of carry-on baggage free of charge, consisting of one cabin bag (maximum dimensions: 56 centimeters [cm] x 36 cm x 23 cm) and one small personal item, such as a handbag or laptop bag (40 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm).
Guests may purchase checked baggage or check-in luggage allowance from 20 kg up to 60 kg, depending on their travel needs.
Unlike other airlines, AirAsia does not set a limit on the number of bags, as long as the total weight does not exceed the purchased allowance. However, each bag must not exceed 32 kg for safety reasons, and only one checked baggage allowance may be purchased per guest, per flight.
“AirAsia Philippines strongly encourages guests to pre-purchase additional baggage allowance via the airline’s official website or the AirAsia MOVE App, as rates are significantly lower compared to excess baggage fees charged at the airport,” it advised.
Guests traveling with family and loved ones are also encouraged to take advantage of the “Seat Together” option to ensure they can sit beside each other onboard, with no risk of separation, making the journey more comfortable and meaningful during the holiday return period.
With the anticipated increase in passenger volume, AirAsia Philippines calls on all guests to plan ahead and arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours for international flights. Passengers are encouraged to review travel requirements for a hassle-free journey.
