The dog gets a cut: Jojo Mendrez includes his fur baby in his will
Revival King Jojo Mendrez is getting his affairs in order — and yes, his dog made the list.
Not that he's going anywhere anytime soon. But the veteran entertainer says he wants everything settled while he's still at the top of his game.
"My dog is included in my will. He's a Chow Chow named Mega. I named him Mega because of my love for Sharon Cuneta," Jojo revealed with a smile at a recent media conference in Timog. "I guess Mega deserves to get something—he’s been a good pet and has truly brought us so much joy."
As for the figures? Jojo kept those close to his chest. What he did confirm is that his dog won’t be the only one cashing in—the rest of his household will receive an equal share of the estate, fur babies and humans alike.
Recently, Jojo became embroiled in a controversy after he asked veteran entertainment journalist Ronald Carballo to stop airing their interview, claiming it crossed boundaries and would affect his image.
The interview still aired on Ronald's YouTube Channel. Yet cooler heads prevailed, and the two showbiz personalities remain good friends. They even had lunch together to renew their friendship. Everything is under the bridge now.
"I respected him. Even when the interview was too intense at times, I never walked out. I finished the interview," he said.
Jojo continues to make music this year. He said he is set to release another cover song, "Yakap," originally performed by Junior in the 1970s. Then he is set to sing another revival called "Tamis ng Unang Halik," originally performed by Tina Paner. All these tracks will be released under Star Music.
"Jonathan Manalo's arrangements are so beautiful. I will also be doing a cover of 'Bakit Ba Ganyan?' by Dina Bonnevie and 'Pangako,' the theme from Claudine Barretto's movie. There are so many songs lined up; the majority are revivals.
"The only original there is 'Nandito Lang Ako.' So there will be a follow-up because the feedback was great, which is why they made another original song. The OFWs also appreciated my songs," he added.
