A 15-year-old boy survived his father's attack inside their home in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Angono, Rizal, by playing dead after being stabbed multiple times.
The Angono Municipal Police Station said the suspect, identified as Josh, who was reportedly struggling with financial problems, allegedly stabbed his wife, Nina, to death before attacking his children on Saturday, April 4.
The youngest child, 12, managed to flee the house unharmed amid the chaos.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at about 8:51 a.m. and was reported at around 11:55 a.m.
The suspect was later found inside the bathroom, still breathing but weakened after reportedly injuring himself hours after the attacks. Authorities immediately transported him to a nearby hospital, where he remains under hospital arrest.
The Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit has been requested to conduct a technical investigation, while the Investigator on Case (IOC) and the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of Angono MPS are coordinating with the victims’ family to obtain sworn statements.
Authorities are preparing documents to file charges of parricide, frustrated parricide, and attempted parricide before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Barangay Dolores, Taytay, Rizal.
