QC gov't launches digital pet registry, intensifies anti-rabies drive
The Quezon City government has launched a digital pet system to achieve zero human rabies deaths by 2030.
The online pet registration and service platform through the QC eServices app will allow residents to enroll their pets, schedule vaccinations, and avail of services such as consultations, deworming, microchipping, and spay or neuter procedures without going to city offices.
Despite ongoing efforts, the city recorded two rabies-related fatalities in 2025.
According to the data from the local government, more than 211,000 individuals were vaccinated last year, alongside over 210,000 pets across 142 barangays.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city is focusing on proactive solutions.
“Rabies is preventable. Every vaccinated pet protects a family and a community,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
During the Rabies Summit 2026, representatives from government agencies, private groups, and animal welfare advocates gathered to improve coordination and response to rabies cases.
City Veterinarian Rey del Napoles said sustained partnerships remain key to protecting both residents and animals.
Authorities urged pet owners to stay updated on vaccination schedules and available services through official city government platforms, stressing that prevention remains the most effective way to eliminate rabies.
