In response to rising costs of fuel and basic commodities, the Pasay City government has expanded its “Libreng Sakay” (free ride) program to provide greater relief to residents struggling with daily expenses.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the enhanced service aims to support Pasayeños affected by economic pressures brought by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The expanded program increases the number of routes and trips, ensuring that more commuters can benefit from free transportation, especially during peak hours.
The Libreng Sakay operates daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., covering key point-to-point routes with high passenger demand, including Buendia, Leveriza, F.B. Harrison, Malibay, and Pildera/Villamor.
Rubiano said that with the expanded free ride service, the city government wanted to ensure that every Pasayeño can get to work, return home safely, and save on daily commuting costs.
She emphasized that the initiative is part of the local government’s continued efforts to help residents cope with the rising cost of living by reducing transportation expenses.
