Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv assists family, arranges repatriation amid regional tensions

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday, April 7, confirmed the death of a Filipina national who was killed in a missile attack on a residential area in Haifa, Israel, over the weekend.
In an official statement, the DFA said the Filipina died alongside her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law when their residence was struck amid escalating hostilities on the evening of April 5.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs expresses deep sorrow over the death of a Filipina national who was killed in a missile attack on a residence in Haifa, Israel, on the evening of April 5, 2026,” the DFA said.
Embassy providing assistance; repatriation underway
The DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv has informed the victim’s family and is extending all necessary assistance, including facilitating the earliest possible repatriation of her remains despite ongoing travel disruptions in the region.
“The Department is also reaching out to support the family during this difficult time,” the DFA said.
The DFA added that the victim’s family has requested privacy as they grieve.
Second Filipino fatality amid rising Israel-Iran tensions
As of writing, authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the Filipina.
This marks the second reported Filipino fatality linked to the ongoing conflict in Israel.

The first was caregiver Mary Ann Velazquez de Vera, who was killed in Israel during Iran’s counterattack on February 28. Her remains were repatriated to the Philippines two weeks later, although the process was delayed due to airspace closures across parts of the Middle East.
