The Department of Social Welfare and Development will start distributing cash assistance to 72,800 tricycle drivers in the Calabarzon region on Wednesday to ease the impact of the oil crisis.
The agency said an initial 24,616 tricycle drivers from Batangas City, Lipa City, Calaca City, Tanauan City, Santo Tomas City, Imus City, Cavite City, Carmona City, Bacoor City, Biñan City, Santa Rosa City, Antipolo City, and Lucena City will receive P5,000 cash assistance each.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian is expected to witness the payout at Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan City for Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations and repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).
Beneficiaries were reminded to bring their valid and photocopy of their driver’s license and contact their local government units, particularly the City Social Welfare and Development Office, for the payout schedule.
Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers in Calabarzon were reminded to await the notification from their local government units about their payout schedule.
