BAGUIO CITY – People going to this city will no longer be able to see the famous Lion’s Head on Kennon Road a tarpaulin has been placed in front of the popular landmark to ease traffic and in response to Interior and Local Government Secretary’s DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s recent call to strictly implement zero-obstruction policies.
Many people stop at Lion’s Head to take photos, causing heavy traffic, and a police ban during the Holy Week failed to stop this.
Police said the tarpaulin will stop people from taking pictures and ease traffic, particularly during summer vacation, when more people are expected here.
A vendor in the area lamented the decision. The vendor said they rely solely on tourists stopping by and nobody will purchase their goods now that the landmark has been covered.
The 40-foot monument was built by the Baguio Lions Club in 1960 and inaugurated in 1972.
