Bacolod City will start distributing P5,000 fuel subsidy to 9,617 tricycle drivers starting Wednesday, April 8.
Mayor Greg Gasataya announced this during a media briefing on Tuesday, April 7, at the Bacolod City Government Center alongside Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) head Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga.
The list of qualified beneficiaries has been posted on his official Facebook page as well as the Bacolod City Communications Office and Serbisyo Patrol.
Distribution will be held in four venues – the Bacolod City College Activity Center in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City National High School Arts Center, SM City Bacolod, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
Beneficiaries were required to present their driver’s license along with a photocopy for verification during the payout.
The distribution will be held for three days and conclude on April 10. A help desk has been established at the BCGC to assist with inquiries.
Gasataya said that those who applied for the assistance but not included in the official list will be attended to at the help desk to verify their concern and check their compliance to enable the city to appeal with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for their inclusion.
He expressed hope that the money would help ease the burden of tricycle drivers.
Gasataya assured the people that the city has prepared adequate manpower and resources to ensure the smooth rollout of the program.
The mayor added that other public transport workers will be prioritized for similar assistance.
Meanwhile, the Public Employment Service Office has started releasing rice subsidies to more than 2,100 traditional and modernized jeepney drivers in the city.
The city is also continuing its validation process for the upcoming fuel subsidy from the national government facilitated by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
