TNT and 7-foot-3 import Bol Bol are looking to sustain their hot when they lock horns against Meralco in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Tuesday, April 7.
The towering beanpole has been on a tear for the Tropang 5G, who have won back-to-back games after opening the mid-season conference with a loss.
Averaging 37.33 points, 16.33 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per contest, Bol is set to be tested by the Bolts – known for their defense — in their 7:30 p.m. affair.
For one, Meralco has its own seven-footer in Marvin Jones to match up with Bol.
Setting the table to their huge clash is the contest between Terrafirma and Magnolia in the first offering at 5:15 p.m.
But for the Bolts, they cannot be too occupied in crowding the paint against Bol as the Tropa certainly has enough weapons to punish Meralco.
Jayson Castro is beginning to return to form as well as RR Pogoy following their respective injuries.
Of course, there are also the likes of Calvin Oftana and Jordan Heading who are both capable of lighting it out from deep at any given night.
But it is not as if Meralco do not have its own set of weapons. The Bolts can rely on local stars Chris Newsome, Bong Quinto and CJ Cansino.
Meanwhile in the first game, absorbing its first taste of defeat last time out, Terrafirma is hoping to get back on winning track against Magnolia, which on the other hand, scored its breakthrough just before the Holy Week break.
How well Ali Mubashar would play will have a huge say on the team’s chances while Jerrick Ahanmisi should be motivated after his stint with the Gilas 3x3 team in the FIBA Asia Cup.
Magnolia, however, is looking to once again lean on import Clint Chapman as well as local stars Jerom Lastimosa and Zav Lucero.
