As the temperature starts to reach its peak, travelers’ wanderlust is also beginning to rise. While many are dreaming of vacations in cooler spots, for many travelers, the summer season calls for a fun day at the beach. And being an archipelago, the Philippines is blessed to have tropical havens and seas that are just waiting to be explored and wandered. The challenge now is how to get there with ease.

To kick off the season on a high note, this author took a trip to Palawan at Sunlight Ecotourism Island Resort (SETIR). But before I even got to the island, my journey started at Clark International Airport through a flight with Sunlight Air.
With its mission of connecting travelers to the Philippines’ islands, Sunlight Air knows that travel is more than just reaching a destination—it’s about creating seamless journeys that begin the moment passengers plan their trip. And that’s exactly what I experienced on my way to Palawan.
One of the most practical examples of this is its baggage allowance. Regular fares include 10 kg (Value Fare) of checked baggage, but if you are never a light packer just like me, it is easy to add an additional 20 kg to your baggage allowance at a friendly price, making your adventure must-haves a breeze to bring along.

Onboard, the staff are known for their warm service, ensuring that every passenger feels comfortable and well cared for throughout the flight. The legroom is wider, and the overhead cabins are spacious enough to accommodate carry-ons. Adding a touch of Filipino hospitality to their service are complimentary locally produced banana chips or mango cookies, along with juice or coffee.
Upon arrival at Francisco B. Reyes Airport, the airline offers a lounge area while you wait for your service vehicle to arrive. If you’re staying at SETIR, car services and boat transfers can also be arranged, ensuring a swift trip to Culion.

On the day of our return, the lounge again offered a space for us to relax after checking in our luggage. It is a perfect spot to prepare for the flight, catch a few Zs, and even do some light work (remember, you are on vacation).
This is the ease of travel that Sunlight Air wants to share this summer. For more treats, don’t forget to check the seatback pocket for more perks and privileges you can enjoy just by showing your Sunlight Air boarding pass.

Overall, my journey to Palawan was a reminder that travel is no longer just about the destination, but also about how effortlessly one gets there. As summer continues to unfold, I can’t wait to discover more of the beauty of the Philippines with Sunlight Air as my travel partner.
Sunlight Air operates daily flights from Clark/Cebu to Coron. It also connects travelers to Boracay and Siquijor.
