Police arrested a 37-year-old robbery suspect after a swift response by the Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit (TMRU) to a reported hold-up incident involving a cashier in Las Piñas City on Monday, April 6.
Col. Wilson Delos Santos, Las Piñas City Police chief, identified the suspect as Ronel, a painter and resident of BF International Village. He was nabbed on Receiver Street in Barangay CAA.
Ronel’s cohort, identified only as alias “Balat,” managed to escape and is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
Delos Santos said TMRU personnel immediately launched a hot pursuit operation after being alerted of a robbery incident at the corner of San Antonio Valley 7 and Naga Road in Barangay Pulang Lupa Dos.
The victim, identified as Mary, 24, a cashier, positively identified Ronel as one of the two suspects who took her Vivo smartphone.
Recovered from the suspect were the stolen cellphone, a .22-caliber revolver, and a white-and-blue Honda Click 125 motorcycle.
The suspect is now detained at the police custodial facility for robbery and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
