The House Committee on Justice has formally directed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla to appear before the panel and submit respondent Vice President Sara Duterte’s official statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs) as part of the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
On Monday, April 6, the justice panel chaired by Batangas 2nd district Rep. Gerville "Jinky Bitrics" Luistro shared a copy of the "subpoena testificandum et duces tecum" that it had issued to the Office of the Ombudsman.
The document specifically instructed Remulla to attend the scheduled committee hearing on Tuesday, April 14. The Luistro panel is currently holding hearings for the determination of probable cause in the two active impeachment complaints against Vice President Duterte.
“You are hereby directed to appear before the Committee on Justice on April 14, 2026, 10:00 a.m., at the 2nd floor of the People Center, House of Representatives, and to submit the following documents,” read the subpoena.
The subpoena requires the submission of “certified true copies of the statement of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALN) of Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte for the years 2022 – 2025 inclusive, 2007 – 2013 inclusive, and 2016 – 2022 inclusive".
According to the panel, the documents are sought “for the committee to be apprised of the assets, liabilities and net worth declared by Vice President Sara Z. Duterte from the time she started public service until the present".

The directive was issued in connection with the verified impeachment complaints filed by Reverend Father Joel Saballa and others, and endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima; as well as a separate complaint filed by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera, and endorsed by Manila 6th district Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. and La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega V.

The justice panel is lookign for answers regarding the alleged P50-million gap between Vice President Duterte's cumulative government salary and her declared net worth.
Chua defends impeachment proceedings, claps back at Olaso
Meanwhile, Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua also defended on Monday, April 6 the House impeachment proceedings from the criticisms of Vice President Duterte's fellow Mindanaonon, Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Olaso.
Chua, a member justice committee, was alluding to Olaso's remarks wherein he ridiculed his former House colleagues for carrying out the impeachment.
“Hindi naman ito huntahan sa plaza, o sagutan ng mga tsismoso sa kanto. This is an impeachment proceeding (This is neither a chat in the plaza, nor an exchange of gossipers on the street corner). If Mayor Olaso wants to attack the process, then he should do so with law, with reason and with facts, not with language that cheapens the discussion and insults the public’s intelligence,” the Manila solon said.
Panel Vice Chairperson San Juan City lone district Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora earlier called out the mayor for calling Duterte's impeachment “kalokohan” or nonsense, as well as for claiming that "bugok lang ang gumagawa (only degenerates do that)".
“The House Committee on Justice is not acting on a whim, and it is certainly not acting for amusement. We are carrying out a constitutional mandate. No mayor, no former lawmaker and no partisan voice can wish that duty away just because the process makes them uncomfortable,” Chua stressed.
He added that Olaso, having once served as a congressman himself, should be aware that the chamber can both legislate and discharge its constitutional responsibilities at the same time.
Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua (PPAB)
“Kung dating mambabatas ka, mas dapat alam mo na hindi puwedeng bastusin ang proseso kapag Saligang Batas na ang pinag-uusapan. Hindi ito kalokohan. Ang kalokohan ay iyong minamaliit mo ang tungkulin ng Kongreso para lang makapuntos ka sa pulitika,” Chua said.
(If you are a former legislator, you should know even more that the process cannot be disrespected when it is the Constitution being discussed. This is not nonsense. The nonsense is when you belittle the duty of Congress just to score political points.)
“Public office demands discipline in language, especially when the subject is impeachment. What Mayor Olaso offered was not serious criticism. Parang show lang ito eh, showbiz talk show. And the Filipino people deserve better than officials who confuse mockery with argument,” 'the Manila solon added.
