CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Police Regional Office-2 reported a generally peaceful observance of Holy Week in Cagayan Valley from March 29 to April 5.
PRO-2 Director Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr. said the peaceful Lenten observance was achieved through the maximized use of personnel and resources and the effective implementation of security measures across the region. He said untoward incidents were minimized and continuous manhunt and arrest operations were conducted by police units.
The Regional Operations Division said that nine persons drowned this year compared to 11 in 2025. But the number of vehicular accidents went up to 98 from 86 during the same period last year.
Police said intensified river and coastal patrols, the conduct of Oplan Tambuli, the dissemination of safety advisories, and heightened police visibility were key factors in keeping crime and other incidents at low and manageable levels.
Marallag lauded police personnel for their dedication and commitment to duty.
“I commend the unwavering dedication to duty of all Valley cops, especially during this Lenten season, which contributed to the successful and peaceful observance of Lent. May you never falter in upholding your sworn responsibilities in keeping our community safe,” Marallag said.
