Newport World Resorts picks PhilWeb for online betting tech
PhilWeb Corp. has entered into a partnership with Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. to provide technical and operational support for the latter’s online gaming platform.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, April 6, PhilWeb said that under the terms of the agreement, the company will act as the gaming system administrator for NWRPlay, the online gaming arm of Newport World Resorts.
PhilWeb said it is tasked with providing the underlying platform technology, system support, and integration of gaming content. The company will also manage marketing and operational services for the platform, according to a regulatory filing.
The move aligns with PhilWeb’s broader strategy to bolster its business-to-business (B2B) segment. By leveraging its accreditation from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., PhilWeb is positioning itself as a primary technology provider for the country's integrated resort operators as they pivot toward regulated online channels.
The partnership remains subject to customary regulatory requirements and approvals from the state gaming regulator.
Travellers International, the operator of the Newport World Resorts complex in Pasay City, remains one of the dominant players in the local hospitality and gaming sector. The property, located across from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, includes a vast array of luxury assets including the Marriott Hotel Manila, Hilton Manila, Sheraton Manila Hotel, and Hotel Okura Manila.
Beyond its gaming floors, the complex houses the 1,710-seat Newport Performing Arts Theater and the Newport Mall.
The collaboration comes at a time when the local gaming industry is increasingly digitizing to capture a wider demographic of domestic players. For PhilWeb, the deal represents a high-profile validation of its gaming system administrator capabilities.
The company has spent recent years diversifying its revenue streams following shifts in the local regulatory environment, focusing heavily on providing the technical infrastructure that allows traditional land-based casino operators to offer remote gaming services.
While the specific financial terms of the revenue-sharing or service fees were not disclosed in the filing, the partnership is expected to contribute to PhilWeb’s service income as NWRPlay scales its operations.
