TIAONG, Quezon – A new Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) center was inaugurated on Monday, April 6, in Barangay Lagalag, this town.
The center is located in an existing, unused building of the Department of Education (DepEd) renovated by the Tiaong municipal government.
The lot, owned by the National Housing Authority (NHA), was acquired through a memorandum of agreement with the municipal government.
The LGU will shoulder the operation, allowances, and assessment fees of scholars – 25 male and female out-of-school youths seeking employment here and abroad. They are a priority target of the job opportunity agenda of the municipal government led by Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea.
The first short training on welding will last for 40 days and will enable students to be a holder of national certifications highly sought after overseas.
The center is administered by Engr. Charie Pagkaliwangan, officer-in-charge and municipal agriculture engineering and biosystem office head.
Pagkaliwangan announced that a training course on massage therapy will be offered in June followed by electrical installation.
Mea said that the center will help train and enable many out-of-school youths land a job.
