5.1-magnitude Cebu quake an aftershock of 2025 6.9 temblor — Phivolcs

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed that the magnitude 5.1 earthquake that shook Cebu and nearby provinces on Monday afternoon, April 6, was an aftershock of the powerful magnitude 6.9 quake that struck northern Cebu on Sept. 30, 2025.
The tectonic earthquake, which struck at 3:22 p.m. on Monday, has its epicenter located 12 kilometers southeast of Bogo City, Cebu. It originated at a shallow depth of 11 kilometers.
In an updated bulletin, Phivolcs confirmed that the event is part of the continuing aftershock sequence of the 2025 magnitude 6.9 earthquake that previously affected northern Cebu and surrounding areas.
The magnitude of the April 6 quake was initially reported as 5.4 before being revised downward to 5.1.
Phivolcs said the tremor was widely felt across the Visayas, with the following reported intensities:

Phivolcs said no major damage has been immediately reported, but warned that aftershocks are expected to continue.
