The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), led by District Director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio, immediately responded to the incident, which occurred at around 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.
Based on the investigation, the vehicle, driven by “Carlos,” lost control on a slippery road while traversing the tunnel from Aurora Boulevard toward E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, causing its front-left portion to strike the wall, damaging both the vehicle and the tunnel, and leaving him injured.
Authorities immediately provided medical assistance to the injured driver and secured the area to prevent further incidents.
The vehicle was removed from the area at around 10:10 p.m., followed immediately by clearing and road safety operations conducted by the District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU) personnel, led by Lt. Col. Josef Geoffrey Lyndon Lim, in coordination with Police Station-8 (PS-8), Barangay Bayanihan officials, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and Traffic and Transport Management Division (TTMD).
Meanwhile, QCPD reminded motorists to exercise extra caution, especially during adverse road conditions, by slowing down, keeping a safe distance, and staying alert while driving to prevent similar incidents.
