Seventeen announces contract renewal at 'New_' encore concert
K-pop boy band Seventeen announced that all 13 of them have renewed their exclusive contracts.
They made the surprise announcement during their “New_” world tour encore concert on April 5 at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium.
Nine members of Seventeen performed at the concert as Jeonghan, Wonwoo, Hoshi and Woozi are in the military.
The encore concert was Seventeen’s finale for the tour that spanned seven months and is also a signal for a temporary pause for group activities as other members will embark on their military service.
Leader S.Coups said, "Thinking that there won't be a full group concert for a while, I find myself reflecting on the past—whether I was a good leader to the members or a good person to the Carats," Korean media reported.
He then announced that all 13 members have renewed their contracts, saying, “As a result of deep discussions among the members, all 13 of us have decided to renew our contracts. We will row forward together in the same boat."
This was the second time that Seventeen renewed their contracts. The first one was in July 2021, about a year before their seventh debut anniversary, when they signed early contract renewals with Pledis Entertainment.
Dino stated, "I debuted when I was 17, and now I am already turning 28. I want to tell myself that I’ve worked hard for the passage of time. Thanks to the Carats, I was able to show filial piety to my parents. I was able to meet my beloved ‘hyungs.’ Above all, I met the Carats."
Seungkwan said, "Seventeen's concerts are coming to a close for a while. I have many thoughts these days. As your idols and singers whom you love, I feel that giving, receiving, and repaying love for such a long time is not something to be taken for granted. The more I feel this way, the more I think I must continue to live diligently for the sake of Carats. Even though we won't be performing as a group, we will continue to greet you in our individual forms, so we are all working hard to prepare and will perform to fill the void of regret."
DK said, "I feel a mix of emotions—bittersweet and relieved—but I was happy because you sent so much love and support. I don't think I will ever forget the memories I made with the members, and I will keep them in my heart. Although this is our last concert for the time being, once we return, we will make a new comeback, perform on stage, and emerge as a cool Seventeen. We will show you many great sides of ourselves."
