Alas, Bolick steer NLEX past Phoenix

NLEX pulled away in the fourth quarter behind timely hits from Robert Bolick and Kevin Alas and took down Phoenix, 120-102, in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, April 5.

NLEX pulled away in the fourth quarter behind timely hits from Robert Bolick and Kevin Alas and took down Phoenix, 120-102, in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, April 5.

Limited to just two points through the first three quarters, Alas came alive in the payoff period and poured 16 of his 18 points while Bolick orchestrated the assault as the Road Warriors seized a solo second in the standings.

NLEX is now with a 4-1 record just behind the still undefeated Rain or Shine which has a 4-0 slate.

Ahead only by six, 83-77, the Road Warriors stepped their foot on the gas pedal and unloaded a 13-2 rally to erect a comfortable 96-79 advantage — a lead that they never relinquished until the final horn.

Bolick finished with a double-double of 22 points and 14 assists while import Cady Lalanne added 29 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks.

Schonny Winston chipped in 16 while Anthony Semerad added 15.

Ricci Rivero paced Phoenix with 20 points while import James Dickey III did a little bit of everything with 13 points, 14 rebounds, five steals and four blocks but to no avail. The Fuel Masters dropped to a 3-2 slate.
