ILIGAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region seized smuggled cigarettes valued at P50 million on Maundy Thursday in Sitio Turugan, Barangay Dinaig Proper, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
A total of 1,170 cases of illicit cigarettes were left behind by unidentified individuals near a riverbank following information from a concerned citizen. Two M79 grenade launchers were also recovered.
The contraband was turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition. The M79 grenade launchers are in police custody for forensic examination.
PRO-BAR Director Police Brig. Gen. Jaysen C. de Guzman commended operating units for their achievement.
Investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the smugglers.
