POLICE investigate the murder of a barangay councilor in Barangay Tambong, Gloria, Oriental Mindoro. (Michael Landicho FB via Jerry Alcayde)

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – A barangay councilor was shot dead in Gloria town, Oriental Mindoro province on Maundy Thursday.

Police Col. Edison Revita, Oriental Mindoro police chief, said the victim, Barangay Tambong Councilor Emiljun Historillo, 53, and a 30-year-old companion were having a drinking session in the house of Historillo’s uncle when the suspect arrived onboard a motorcycle arrived and asked the location of a resort.

The suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim and his drinking companion.

Historillo and his companion were taken to a hospital where the victim was declared dead and his companion recovering.

Police recovered four fired cartridges and one slug in the crime scene.

Revita has organized a Special Investigation Task Group to ensure focused and coordinated investigation.

Gov. Bonz Dolor has offered a P100,000 reward for the capture of the suspect. Historillo is a known supporter of Dolor.
