BACOLOD CITY – An alleged police asset was killed by two gunmen in Barangay Banago here on Maundy Thursday.
Police Capt. Rosalino Pugoy Jr., commander of Police Station 3, said the 29-year-old victim identified as Bebe was riding a tricycle on her way home when the suspects onboard a motorcycle appeared and shot her in the back. She was taken to a hospital where she died.
Pugoy said the victim had no police record but a family member was jailed for a drug offense.
He added that the victim may have been targeted by the suspects for being an alleged informant in the campaign against illegal drugs. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his niece in Tayasan, Negros Oriental on Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as Ric, the No. 1 most wanted person in the Negros Island Region.
The suspect was arrested on a warrant for qualified rape. The victim was allegedly raped while she was staying at her grandmother's residence due to alleged psychological abuse by her mother.
