The Manila Police District (MPD) said on Friday, April 3, that the Good Friday procession of the Jesus Nazareno ended peacefully, with no major incidents reported.
MPD chief Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad thanked police personnel and partner agencies for ensuring the orderly conduct of the event.
“To all the PNP personnel, government partners, and volunteer force multipliers, please accept my sincere gratitude for your relentless effort and dedication. Your cooperation was the cornerstone of this success, ensuring that the safety of our devotees remained uncompromised throughout this sacred tradition,” he said.
A total of 3,160 personnel were deployed, with support from other agencies and volunteers, to secure the procession.
Authorities said an estimated 517,650 devotees participated in the event, which ran from late Thursday night to Friday afternoon.
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 397 medical cases, all of which were treated on site.
