TIAONG, Quezon – Hundreds of devotees joined the procession here on Good Friday.
The procession featured antique carriages with images depicting the Passion of Christ from the Escudero and other prominent families.
The procession was a joint undertaking of the local government unit headed by Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea, the Saint John the Baptist Parish led by Rev. Father Edwin Baruelo, and Villa Escudero, represented by owner Rosalie Escudero, as part of the town's faith tourism program.
Devotees with lighted candles in a somber display of faith followed the carriages.
The procession was held following a Mass at the church with the Seven Last Words or “Siete Palabras.”
The procession served as a major culmination of Holy Week traditions here offering a poignant visual representation of the suffering of Jesus.
