Associates of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts pledged to practice mindful travel at the group’s MeGreen Mindful Travel Forum held last March 25, 2026.
The ongoing global crisis has underscored the importance of being mindful in everything we do. In response to the evolving needs of travelers and the growing call for purposeful action in a rapidly changing world, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) has reinforced its commitment to mindful hospitality or hospitality with a purpose. This unified approach connects the direction set by Megaworld Corporation’s MeGreen program with the values of MHR’s Sampaguita brand of hospitality and Circle of Happiness culture.
For MHR, mindful hospitality translates into a shared responsibility across departments. This includes simplified and efficient service operations, thoughtful and balanced culinary offerings from food and beverage teams, clear and intentional messaging from sales and marketing, responsible investments and cost-saving measures from finance, and the cultivation of values-driven behaviors through people management and development. Together, these efforts ensure that mindfulness is not confined to a single initiative but embedded in the daily decisions and actions of every associate.
“Mindful travel is a cause Megaworld Hotels & Resorts wants to rally for in the industry. It is not a campaign; we want to start a movement whereby everyone is conscious of what we do when we travel. Mindful travel can be as simple as reusing your linens and towels during your stay or turning off the lights and air conditioning when you step out of the room, knowing that these small yet deliberate actions can make a huge difference,” Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said.
Mindful travel can also take many meaningful forms. Guests can choose to bring reusable water bottles instead of single-use plastics, select plant-based menu options that have a lower environmental footprint, and give back to selected organizations.
MHR Leaders discussed how to practice mindfulness in respective departments.
The hotel group recently convened in a MeGreen Mindful Travel Forum, bringing together over 200 associates composed of general managers and department leaders from all its 14 properties nationwide. The gathering marked a significant step in cultivating a shared mindset rooted in mindfulness.
The forum aimed to inspire a meaningful shift in perspective among MHR associates, encouraging them to embody mindfulness not only in their professional roles but also in their daily lives. At the heart of this philosophy is the belief that meaningful change does not always come from grand gestures, but from small, consistent actions done well. These daily habits collectively shape the kind of hospitality that guests can feel and remember. The group envisions a culture where every action is guided by purpose and care. At the end of the forum, MHR employees pledged and signed a digital board to affirm their commitment to practicing mindful hospitality through intentional actions that care for guests, communities, and the environment.

Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan addressed MHR leaders and shared about climate change.
The forum’s keynote speaker was Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, the man behind Earth Hour in the Philippines, who spoke about the urgent realities of climate change and the role organizations play in driving collective action. His message underscored that mindfulness must translate into concrete environmental responsibility. In line with this, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts actively participated in this year’s Earth Hour through initiatives focused on resource management, energy-efficient food preparation through No-Bake Desserts, and the Mindful Stays room package.
Guests staying at any MHR property are invited to relax while also making a positive difference through the Mindful Stays room package. Sustainability remains at the forefront of this offer, with initiatives unique to each property ranging from eco-friendly property features and resource-efficient operations to wellness-focused activities and thoughtfully curated plant-based menu offerings.
A portion of each booking directly supports MHR’s partner communities and initiatives across its destinations, including the Ati Komunidad in Boracay, which preserves indigenous heritage and livelihoods; Project PEARLS in Manila, which provides nourishment and educational support to underprivileged children; Visit Iloilo campaign, which supports various heritage, culture, and art-based programs and advocacies in Iloilo; Coral Reef Care in Mactan, Cebu, focused on reef restoration and marine protection; and the Highland Farmers & Forest Guardianship initiative in Tagaytay, which sustains farm-to-table harvests and preserves cool-climate greenery.
By embracing the principle of small, consistent actions done well, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts continues to nurture a culture of mindfulness. And amid moments that may feel beyond our control, mindfulness empowers individuals and organizations to become part of the solution and reminds us that even the smallest intentional act can create a positive ripple effect.
