CEBU CITY – An Uzbek national was killed in a bus-motorcycle collision in Badian town, Cebu province on Wednesday night, April 1.
Bakhrom Uchkunovich Khamitov, 30, was driving a motorcycle when he was hit by a passenger bus past 10 p.m. in Barangay Malhiao.
Police said Khamitov was driving home to Moalboal town, Cebu when he was sideswiped by a Ceres bus driven by Ramel Gutang Omaya, 49, of Barangay Cabutongan, Santander, Cebu.
The victim lost control of the motorcycle due to the impact and was thrown to the ground and run over by a truck, police said. The bus driver did not stop after the incident.
Police conducted a hot pursuit operation and eventually intercepted the bus. Emergency responders brought the victim to the Badian District Hospital where he was declared dead.
Police said the bus driver will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
