Authorities on Thursday, April 2, said the operation was primarily conducted to serve a warrant for “Ron,” 24, wanted for violating Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto said operatives from the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS), along with personnel from Sub-Station 1, Sub-Station 5, the Intelligence Section, SWAT, and the Investigation Team, went to a hotel in Barangay 76 along EDSA to serve the warrant issued by Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 119 against Ron.
They requested the assistance of hotel security to conduct the operation. However, upon entering the room where Ron was reportedly staying, police caught the group allegedly engaged in a marijuana (kush) smoking session.
The incident also led to the arrest of “Mike,” 18; “Jane,” 26; “Arse,” 24; “Balong,” 29; “Ed,” 30; and “Kel,” 22, along with two children in conflict with the law (CICL), aged 17 and 16.
Authorities recovered two heat-sealed sachets of marijuana weighing about 5.23 grams, valued at P8,890; two glass tube pipes with marijuana residue; and one sachet of suspected shabu weighing 3.87 grams, valued at P26,316.
They also seized a cigarette pack, a blue disposable lighter, and a ziplock bag containing six tablets and one capsule believed to be ecstasy, worth P11,900.
The suspects are under police custody, while the two minors will be handled in accordance with Republic Act 9344, or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act.
