Productive Women's Month: 172 fugitives facing sexual abuse-related cases arrested
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a total of 172 people accused of various cases relating to sexual abuses in March which is declared every year as National Women’s Month.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert AA Morico II said those arrested are all fugitives, some of them are included in local wanted persons list due to the serious nature of offenses against women and children.
Those arrested are facing charges ranging from acts of lasciviousness to rape and online sexual exploitation of women and children. This underscores the CIDG’s commitment in protecting and helping all the women and children from abuse and violence,” said Morico.
Out of the 172 arrested individuals, 75 are captured in Luzon, 26 in Visayas, while 71 are accounted for in Mindanao.
Among those collared are 53 accused listed as Regional Most Wanted and 68 are tagged as Provincial Most Wanted Person.
A total of 72 of those arrested are facing non-bailable offenses.
“These arrests prevent these ‘predators’ from roaming freely to further victimize, and significantly helped the 172 victims and their families attain the justice they deserve,” said Morico.
