Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar issued the directive to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors, as churches and public spaces are expected to see an influx of devotees during the religious commemoration.
Aguilar said under Blue Alert status, concerned agencies, including the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), City Health Office (CHO), Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO), and Barangay DRRM Committees, are placed on heightened readiness.
She added that the heightened alert means stronger coordination among response units, prepositioning of emergency equipment, and the activation of round-the-clock monitoring to promptly address any incidents that may arise.
The mayor said that the proactive measure is part of the local government’s commitment to maintaining peace, order, and public safety throughout the Holy Week period, particularly in areas expected to draw large crowds.
Residents are also encouraged to remain vigilant, follow safety advisories, and cooperate with authorities to ensure a solemn and secure observance of the Lenten season.
