CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Authorities have inspected key areas for this year’s Maleldo or reenactment of Jesus’ crucifixion on Good Friday here.
Inspected were major crucifixion sites in Barangays San Juan, Santa Lucia, and San Pedro Cutud, along with assistance hubs, tourist desks, staging areas, and Oplan Ligtas Sumvac zones to ensure smooth flow, crowd control, and rapid emergency response.
City Administrator and acting City Legal Officer Kristannico Abad led the inspection on behalf of Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, together with the Maleldo Incident Management Team overseeing disaster response, security, health, and public safety.
The police, Bureau of Fire Protection, barangays, and other support groups also took part, prepared for the expected surge of devotees and visitors.
Caluag stressed the need for a safe and respectful observance.
Officials encouraged the public to observe discipline, cleanliness, and compassion.
Penitents from last year’s Maleldo are expected to reprise their roles, among them veteran devotee Ruben Enaje, 65, who started his vow in 1985 at the age of 25 in gratitude to God after surviving an accident in a construction site.
