CEBU CITY – A 46-year-old man was arrested while a 14-year-old boy was rescued when authorities uncovered an online sexual exploitation in Lapu-Lapu City on Tuesday night, March 31.
The operation was carried out by the Women and Children Protection Center-Visayas Field Unit (WCPC-VFU) headed by Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter together with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit.
Prior to the operation, the WCPC-VFU received a report from a foreign counterpart that someone in the area was sexually exploiting minors.
After close monitoring, a Warrant to Search, Seize and Examine Computer Data was secured.
During the implementation of the warrant, the suspect’s cellphone was examined and was found to contain lewd photos of minors.
Photos found in the suspect’s cellphone included the rescued 14-year-old boy who had been living with the man.
Police said the suspect would usually ask children to pose naked. The lewd photos would then be sold to the suspect’s customers online.
The suspect will be charged for violation of Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Material Act.
