TACLOBAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-8 is in on full alert for the Holy Week from March 31 to April 5 in Eastern Visayas following the directive of Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to step up security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful observance of Semana Santa nationwide.
Police Brig. Gen. Jayson Capoy, PRO-8 director, said all PRO-8 unit commanders were instructed to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in their areas and provide necessary assistance in enforcing security measures.
Capoy said police visibility and presence were increased, along with other public safety measures, to guarantee a safe and peaceful celebration.
He urged personnel and partner agencies to stay vigilant and proactive.
“Our goal is to ensure that every resident and visitor in Eastern Visayas can observe Semana Santa 2026 in peace and safety,” he said.
