The Philippine National Police (PNP) has acquired P506 million worth of mobility assets and protection equipment as part of the modernization program aimed at boosting the response and operational capabilities of the country’s police force.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. said all the motor vehicles and protective equipment will be immediately distributed to all police units on the ground to maximize peace and order measures and law enforcement actions especially this dry season.
Among those bought were 800 sets of CDM Equipment; 3,711 units of All Purpose Waistcoat Vest; 600 sets of Non-Lethal Equipment; and, 403 units of Autogated Night Vision Device (Monocular).
Nartatez said they were bought under the PNP’s 2025 Capability Enhancement Program (CEP), with P244.7 million fund.
On the other hand, a total of 117 units of Personnel Carrier 4x4 and 71 units of Light Motorcycles were bought through the budget augmentation made by the Congress.
“These will enhance the mobility, protection, and operational readiness of our personnel on the ground,” said Nartatez, adding that priority areas of distribution are those with tourist spots.
“And these will all be dispatched immediately. Our procurement program will be a continuing one,” he added.
Nartatez also disclosed that in the next six months, they will also receive around 700 more motorcycles and a number of body-worn cameras.
He added that part of the modernization is improving the capability and services of the PNP hotlines across the country.
