The Manila local government will implement a work-from-home arrangement and half-day work schedule on Wednesday, April 1, in line with a directive from Malacañang, ahead of the observance of Holy Week.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 116 issued by the Office of the President, all offices under the Manila local government will adopt a work-from-home setup from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., while work in government offices will be suspended starting 12 noon.
However, local agencies tasked with delivering essential services, including basic and health services, disaster and calamity response, and other critical functions, will continue operations.
The measure aims to give local government employees time to observe religious traditions and travel to their home provinces, as many Filipinos mark Holy Week with family gatherings and faith-based activities.
Meanwhile, the implementation of similar arrangements in private companies and offices has been left to the discretion of their respective management.
