Operatives of the Makati City Police arrested one of two suspects involved in a convenience store robbery inside a building in Barangay Magallanes on Wednesday, April 1.
The arrested suspect was identified as alias “Talong,” 29, a resident of Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
According to the Makati Police Station, the incident occurred at around 2:45 a.m. when two suspects entered the store and declared a hold-up.
Police said one of the suspects reportedly brandished a firearm while the other took about P3,000 in cash before they fled toward Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Authorities immediately launched a hot pursuit operation, leading to the arrest of one of the suspects within hours. A kitchen knife was recovered from his possession.
The suspect is now under police custody and will undergo inquest proceedings for robbery before the Makati Prosecutor’s Office.
Meanwhile, the second suspect, identified only as “Kalbo,” remains at large, prompting a continuing manhunt operation.
Southern Police District Director Brig. Gen. Randy Y. Arceo said efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspect.
“We will pursue the remaining suspect without letup. Let this serve as a clear warning that those who engage in criminal acts will be swiftly hunted down and brought before the law. There will be no refuge for lawbreakers within our jurisdiction,” he said.
