Balut vendor survives shooting by riding-in-tandem in Rizal
A 30-year-old balut (fertilized duck egg) vendor was injured after motorcycle-riding suspects shot him while he was selling by the roadside in Tanay, Rizal, on Monday, March 30.
The Tanay Municipal Police Station identified the victim as “Marvin,” a construction worker who was selling balut at the time of the incident.
The incident occurred on Pastor G. Santos Street in Barangay Wawa at around 11:30 p.m., while the victim was seated by the roadside selling balut when two unidentified suspects arrived onboard a peach-colored motorcycle.
Without apparent reason, the back rider of the motorcycle, wearing a black jacket, suddenly shot the victim once using an unknown firearm, authorities said.
The victim managed to run into a nearby alley toward his residence, while the suspects fled toward the Barangay Wawa Lighthouse.
He was immediately brought to the hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities said the motive remains unclear as they continue investigating to identify and arrest the suspects.
