CEBU CITY – Two persons were killed and five were injured in a collision between a delivery truck and tricycle in Sibonga, Cebu.
The incident happened in Barangay Candaguit around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
Police identified the fatalities as Genesa, 22, and her 19-year-old sister Shanin Himar. The victims were residents of Lutopan, Toledo City, Cebu.
The fatalities were the passengers of a tricycle driven by Patrick Heredia. Heredia and his other passengers Bianca Michaela Morala, 21, of Lapu-Lapu City; Jocel Cabrera, 23, of Barangay Labangon, Cebu City; Kate Elaine Gemena, 14, and Britt Gemena of Barangay Candaguit were injured.
Investigation showed that the two vehicles were travelling on opposite lanes when the tricycle maneuvered to cross to the other lane.
The truck driver failed to notice the crossing motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The driver of the truck, Reynaldo Sardoncillo, 37, was arrested.
Police said Sardoncillo is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, multiple physical injuries, and damage to property.
