Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez commended local firefighters and volunteers as he announced plans for a new fire substation in Aseana City during the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Parañaque’s joint celebration of National Women’s Month and Fire Prevention Month on March 30.
The event, held at the Barangay San Dionisio Sports Complex, gathered BFP personnel, local officials, and community volunteers.
Olivarez highlighted the importance of both observances, emphasizing preparedness and recognizing women's contributions to public service.
He praised the BFP for its continued efforts in fire prevention and emergency response, noting the dedication of its personnel.
“Ang buwan na ito ay hindi lamang isang pagkakataon para kilalanin ang kontribusyon ng mga kababaihan sa ating lipunan, kundi paalala rin ng kahalagahan ng kahandaan at kaligtasan sa ating komunidad,” (This month is not only an opportunity to recognize the contributions of women in our society, but also a reminder of the importance of preparedness and safety in our community), Olivarez said.
Olivarez said a new fire substation will be built this year in Aseana City, Barangay Tambo, to improve response time in the rapidly developing area. Once completed, it will be the city’s sixth fire station.
He also cited ongoing support for the BFP, including the deployment of 19 new fire aides and the addition of five fire trucks to boost operations.
“In both occasions, we’ve witnessed the dedication of women and the entire BFP who work tirelessly to serve the public and ensure everyone’s safety,” he added.
The mayor reaffirmed the city government’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and encouraged residents to remain vigilant.
“These programs reflect our commitment to ensure every Parañaqueño is safe and prepared,” Olivarez said.
