President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (RTVM)
President Marcos announced that the new four-kilometer segment of the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) will be toll-free until December this year.
Marcos made the announcement as he led the opening of the expressway's Aliaga-Cabanatuan Section in Nueva Ecija on Tuesday, March 31.
Kaya libre muna (This road will probably be toll-free until December, so for now it’s free)," Marcos said.
He added that different trucks can already utilized the new expressway segment to help ease the traffic on MacArthur Highway.
Kaya ‘yan ang malaking epekto dito (As long as travel becomes faster, fuel costs are reduced, and the goods being transported by our trucks won’t increase in price. That’s the big impact of this)," Marcos said.
According to Marcos, the new section forms part of an east–west road from Tarlac up to Cabanatuan.
This is again part of our instruction to open all possible connector roads to make traffic flow faster)," Marcos said.
This is a big deal because a trip that used to take one hour and fifteen minutes to one hour and a half will now take only about 20 minutes)," Marcos added.
The President also emphasized that by reducing travel time through the opening of the CLLEX segment, fuel consumption is also reduced.
Another major advantage to opening the segment, Marcos said, is helping reduce transport costs of goods.
(As you know, Nueva Ecija is considered the rice granary of the Philippines. This will help reduce transport costs, and by lowering transport costs, the price of rice can remain stable)," Marcos said.
It’s not just about reducing travel time or lowering fuel consumption, but also about keeping rice prices stable. As we all know, when oil prices are affected, many things follow, including food prices)," Marcos added.
Around 11,400 to 11,500 vehicles are expected to pass through the segment daily, the President further said.
